I was going to post this data table and see if you could guess what it is, but instead I'll just tell you.
This is latest the Padres were in first place in their division for each season. Those seasons that aren't listed are those that the Padres were never in first place after the first game. There's quite a few of them.
The last column is the number of games they were in first place total for the season. If I wasn't in such a rush to post this originally I may have noticed like Ducksnorts how the Padres were only in first place for 29 games in their first 15 years. Tough times indeed.
I can tell you this, it feels like a long time since April 5th, 2011.
