John Moores, the former Padres owner, philanthropist, entrepreneur and recluse has decided to marry his alleged mistress, former gynecologist Dr. Dianne Rosenberg. To be clear, she's not his gynecologist, she's a gynecologist.
VIPs reportedly are flying in from across the country for the nuptials at the newly remodeled Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, purchased last year by Moores’ JMI Realty firm. The exclusive event kicks off with a Friday evening barbecue followed by the wedding on Saturday.
John Moores' messy divorce from high school sweetheart Becky Moores whom he married in 1963, prompted the messy sale of the Padres when it was necessary for their extreme wealth to be split. "Irreconcilable differences" was cited as the reason for the divorce but the alleged "romantic relationship" between Moores and Rosenberg was obviously a point of contention.
A former local gynecologist "has shared and continues to share a lengthy, personal and romantic relationship with (Padres owner) John Moores," according to a court filing by the attorney for Moores' wife, Becky.
Moores left San Diego on bad terms with many Padres fans when he pocketed $200 million of the Padres' $800 million TV deal after the sale of the Padres was completed. The money was deemed by MLB commissioner Bud Selig to be rightfully his because of his stake in the team, but fans still pine for the lost payday.
Moores has been living with Rosenberg in his home state of Texas for several years but has kept a residency in the Omni Hotel. The lovely couple plan to marry in Rancho Santa Fe, north of San Diego, and build a home in town after their nuptials.
All the best!
