Once again the Peoria Javelinas were unable to pull out a victory in yesterday's game against the Surprise Saguaros. The only representative from the Padres organization yesterday, Tommy Medica, went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his AFL debut.
Today the Javs will face the Scottsdale Scorpions at home. Johnny Barbato will make the start on the mound for Peoria. After starting the year as one of John Sickels' Top 20 Padres prospects, Barbato pitched in 49 games (7 starts) for Lake Elsinore, going 3-6 with a 5.01 ERA. Along with Barbato, Cory Spangenberg will be in the starting lineup for the Javs today, batting 9th and playing second base. He went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored in the AFL opener on Tuesday.
Follow along here as the Javs try to get their first win of the AFL season.
