Wow. That was an exhilarating game; I feel like I need a shower. The Padres' offense was in full effect throughout the rollercoaster affair, tallying a season-high twenty (yeah, seriously, twenty!) hits and ten runs, led by Alexi Amarista's career-best to date 5-5 showing and Chase Headley's six runs batted in.
The Padres jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on Headley's first inning homer and tacked on another in the third when Chase singled in his doppelganger Logan Forsythe who had been hit by a pitch and stole second. The bottom of the third was a different story as Casey Kelly lost his no hitter, lost his shutout and lost the lead, giving up 7 runs on 6 hits. The Padres hung in there, responding with three runs in the top of the fourth to come within a run. The score remained 7-6 until the top of the sixth when Alexi tied it up, coming in from second on a Logan single. The Friars promptly took the lead as Chase singled Forsythe home for his sixth RBI. The lead was extended to 9-7 the next inning on an RBI single by Amarista but took a turn for the worse in the bottom of the seventh when Tommy Layne put two Rockies on base and Brad Brach came in and gave up a three run shot to I Don't Even Care Who. 10-9, them. Ouch. Colorado extended their lead in the bottom of the eight when Brach walked Charlie Blackmon, gave him third on a willy-nilly pickoff attempt and then gave up a single to Dexter Fowler. The Padres mounted a rally in the top of the ninth but it was too little, too late as we only brought one run in to fall short for a 10-11 loss.
Pretty good showing for a Sunday OT. Rookie Of The Year frontrunner Faith Keeper was second only to this seasoned vet's 99 comments with a strong showing of 93. Zen Blade came in third with a respectable 64, and Sam and jodes rounded out the top five with 54 and 49, respectively.

On a side note, I wrote this last night but fell asleep before picking a picture and publishing it. Whoops.
