Tonight we conclude the season series against the Dodgers. And it would only be fitting to end it by giving them their first series loss in San Diego in two years. With the series tied at a game apiece, our Padres need to rebound from yesterday's loss and take this final game.
Chris Capuano will take the hill for the Dodgers tonight, hoping to earn his first win in eight starts. Over his previous seven, he's gone 0-3 with a 6.13 ERA, and has failed to pitch more than five innings in four of those outings. His last time out, he gave up four runs in five innings against the Nationals. Capuano is 4-4 all-time against our Padres. But he hasn't found success at Petco Park, going 0-3 in four career starts here. He also hasn't had any luck this year, going 0-2 in three starts against us this season.
Pitching for our Padres will be Casey Kelly, making his first career starts against Los Angeles. He ran into a bit of trouble in his last start, giving up two runs on seven hits and four walks in just 4 1/3 innings against the Giants. He is 2-2 in his first five major league starts. Tonight he'll try to pitch his way to victory and help our boys defeat the Wild-Card-hopeful Dodgers
