Game Preview: Game 147 vs. Colorado Rockies

Our Padres made up for losing on The Colonel's birthday two nights ago by taking game 2 from the Rockies last night after a wonderful ceremony honoring Jerry Coleman at Petco Park. Today our boys will try to keep their series win streak intact in the series finale against Colorado.

The Rockies will send Alex White to the mound to try to get his first win since June 3rd. He has made 13 starts since then and gone 0-5. He has done well lately given his pitch limit of ~75 pitches in each of his last two starts. Most recently, he kept the Giants to just one run (a solo homer) on six hits while throwing 76 pitches in four innings. He walked no one and struck out two. He lost both of his starts against us this season. At Petco Park back in May, he gave up just two runs on six hits in 6 1/3 innings, but got only one run from his offense. At Coors Field on August 31st, he only lasted 3 2/3 innings, surrendering three runs on four hits and three walks.

Andrew Werner will take the hill for the good guys. He has been nails since joining the rotation. Today in his fifth major league start he will try to build off the strong start he's had to his ML career. In each of his previous outings, he has kept opponents to two runs or fewer while lasting at least six innings on the mound. In 24 1/3 total innings, he has struck out 23 batters. His last time out, he gave up just one run to the Diamondbacks while striking out six in 6 1/3 innings. Hopefully he can continue to find success as he takes on the Rockies for the first time and tries to lead our Padres to a series win.
