When things were going really bad for the Padres at the end of June they were behind the pace of the1969 Padres who were the worst team in franchise history. With no real pennant race for the 2012ers and the threat of a one hundred loss season I thought it'd be interesting to follow the race between two terrible teams.
Well as it turns out it's really hard to be as terrible as the 69ers. At this point in the season they were in the midst of a 4-24 stretch. Now those are some dog days.
The 2012ers have picked up 13 games on them. This is a much better team than the one that took the field in June. They're winning games against lesser teams and losing to better teams. That's the way it should be.
Right now their winning percentage is sandwiched between the 1975 team and the 1977 team. That's good for 29th place if they hold the pace.
