Last night's victory was a fantastic way to start off the homestand. Tonight we'll see if our boys can keep the momentum going and clinch the series as we send Edinson Volquez to the hill. Volquez will be looking to extend his season-long undefeated streak as he takes the mound against the Mets. He is 4-0 in his last seven outings, including a one-hit complete game shutout in his last start at Petco Park. His most recent start, a win over the Reds, wasn't his sharpest. He gave up five runs on six hits, allowing two homers and three walks. Thankfully our offense came through in a big way, scoring 11 runs to give him a huge cushion to work with. Back home at Petco Park, however, it won't be as likely that the offense will put up such a big number, so Volquez will have to try to keep the Mets off the board if he wants to earn his first career victory against them.

The Mets will look to rookie right-hander Jeremy Hefner, who lost his major league starting debut to our Padres back in May. He was tagged with six runs on nine hits in just 3 2/3 innings as our boys went on to win 11-5. This will be Hefner's third start of the year and he is still looking for that first major league win. This may be his last chance at it, at least for a while, considering the Mets expect Johan Santana to return from the DL next week and rejoin the rotation.

After starting the month of August with back-to-back losses in Cincy, it's time to rebound and get back-to-back wins here at home.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
