Presswire

Our eight-game win streak came to an end at the hands of Kris Medlen last night, so our Padres will have to start a new one today in the final game of the series against the Braves.

We will send Eric Stults to the hill to try to build off his last start and lock up the series. Stults was brilliant his last time out, giving up just three hits and a walk in seven innings of work against the Diamondbacks. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate and brought home three runs to help himself and the team to a 5-0 victory in Arizona. The victory was his third in his last three decisions, bringing him to 4-2 in eight starts for San Diego. Stults earned a win against the Braves earlier this month when the boys made the trip out to Atlanta. He kept them to just one run on five hits and no walks while striking out three in 7 2/3 innings on the mound.

The Braves will counter with Tommy Hanson, who loves pitching against San Diego. He is 4-0 in five career starts against us, having won each of his three starts at Petco Park. He is coming off a rough start against the Giants, to whom he surrendered five runs on seven hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work. The Braves hope he can bounce back and help them avoid a sub-.500 road trip.
