The Padres snapped their 5 game losing streak by trouncing the Giants in front of legions of their own fans. Clayton Richard and unbearable heat shutdown the Giants' P.E.D. fueled offense. Cameron Maybin who described himself as being "blessed with good coordination" in the Postgame show, was player of the game, going 4-5.

The Scoring

Carlos Quentin started the scoring in the first inning by singling up the center. That hit scored Will Venable. Cameron Maybin followed by singling again to center to score Quentin and Yonder Alonso. 3-0 Padres

In the top of the 2nd the Giants scored their only run on a sac fly by Hunter Pence. Buster Posey had reached base on a fielding error when Venable dropped a ball. 3-1 Padres.

Maybin singled again in the 5th to score Alexi Amarista who led off with a triple. Everth Cabrera doubled to drive in Maybin, John Baker followed. 6-1 Padres.

In the 8th Venable hit his 8th homer of the year to finish the scoring, reminding everyone that once in a long while he can be good.. 7-1 Padres

Notes
  • Everth Cabera was as Bud Black says "a pest" today and worked Vogelsong for 30 pitches. Lots of foul balls.
  • Carlos Quentin was hit by a pitch in the 2nd and looked PISSED and momentarily thought about ripping Vogelsong's arm from its socket. Clayton Richard plunked Brandon Belt in the 4th as retaliation. Both teams were warned.
  • Chase "Hot Head"-ley was ejected from the game between innings because the ump thought Headley was trying to show him up. Headley thought he knew the strike zone better than the ump and he was right.
  • Alexi Amarista made a great catch over his shoulder in the shadeless visitor's bullpen, where temperatures soared to a billion degrees.
  • The Giants were not a good baseball team today
