Coming off consecutive series losses, our boys will kick off a four-game series in Cincinnati tonight and will look to Edinson Volquez to right the ship. This will be Volquez' first return to Great American Ballpark since he was traded to the Padres for Mat Latos. He will be looking to slow down the streaking Reds, who have now won ten in a row and continue to lead the NL Central. The Reds haven't given up more than three runs in eight games during their win streak, and hope to continue to shut down Padres hitters this series. But Volquez has been a solid starter for our Padres. He has yet to see a loss in July, and although he has only seen one victory, he will hopefully end the month undefeated and on the winning end of tonight's game. His last time out, he gave up only two runs on three hits in seven innings of work. He will look to our offense to give him the run support he has lacked in the past and begin this series on a good note.

Opposing Volquez will be Mike Leake, who pitched a great game on Tuesday against the Astros. He allowed two runs on seven hits and lasted eight innings on the mound for the fourth time this season. It was his fourth win of the season, and he hopes to add onto that total tonight as he takes on our Friars.

Along with Volquez, the rest of the players involved in the Latos trade will all be in attendance at GABP tonight. The "Y's Guys" Yasmani Grandal and Yonder Alonso will hit in the 5 and 6 spots, respectively. Brad Boxberger was called up this morning when Joe Thatcher was placed on the DL. This will be the first time all four of the players acquired from the Reds in that trade will be on the big league roster at the same time against their former team in Cincinnati.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
