Padres on first 4 game win streak of season, Cashner injured

Well the good news is the Padres won by dropping 9 runs on the D-Backs. The bad news is that Andrew Cashner was injured.

Let's recap shall we?

  • In the top of second Yasmani Grandal singled and Yonder Alonso followed by homering to right field. When Alonso crossed the plate he made a rowing motion with his arms for an unexplained reason.
  • In the middle of the third inning Andrew Cashner strained his lat warming up. It was touch an go for awhile as Padres fans expected the worst. Sources say it's the same injury that Huston Street suffered before becoming an All Star. He's expected to be out 3 weeks. Here's the animated gif of the moment he was injured via Baseball Nation:

  • In the 4th Cameron Maybin scored on a error by Trevor Bauer. Then Alexi Amarista singled to drive in another run. Then Chase Headley hit a bases clearing double to right center. The score was 7-0.

  • In the 5th the Padres started to pile on with a Maybin single that scored Alonso.
  • It was in the bottom of the 5th when Nick Vincent came into pitch that things got sloppy. Long story short, the Jason Kubel hit a grand slam.
  • In the 8th Jesus Guzman homered.
  • In the 9th Paul Goldschmidt had his 4th hit and scored Justin Upton, but it was too little too late.
