Padres lose 3-2 on walk-off single to Giants

"TICKLE HIM!"
"TICKLE HIM!"

It looked like it was going to be another blowout by the way Edinson Volquez started the first inning. Nate Schierholtz and his George Michael beard led off the Giants' half of the first with a double. Then it was a Theriot single. Next batter was Melky who hit a ball up the middle fielded by Logan Forsythe. Forsythe made a throw that pulled Yonder Alonso off the bag, but some how Melky was awarded the hit. A passed ball by Yasmani Grandal made the situation worse, but Posey struck out. Sandoval then hit an RBI double. The Padres were lucky to escape the inning down by two.

Fortunately Volquez settle and pitched lights out the remainder of his outing earning a firm handshake from Bud Black. It's considered a great honor to earn a handshake from Black.

The Padres came back in the second. Carlos Quentin doubled to start of the inning. Jesus Guzman promptly doubled himself to score the first run for the Pads. It took a soft single from Volquez to tie up the game and score Guzman.

Until the 9th the game remained tied 2-2.

Besides a rotund man being injured doing the splits not much happened until...

In the 8th the Padres had a chance to go ahead for the first time in the game. Chase Headley had singled and Quentin hit a ball to deep centerfield.

I can't really figure out where Chase was going. Why did he round second on a fly ball? If the ball hits the ground he should be able to score anyway. If the ball is caught he's screwed, which is exactly what happened.

A walk off single in the 9th by some clown sealed the win for the Giants. There was a dog pile and the team ran their fingers through his greasy hair.
