When I started tracking the 2012 Padres against the worst Padres team ever. The current team was two games behind the 1969 Padres' pace. That was on June 21st. Since then our boys have been on a roll, they've gone 17-10. They've passed the '69ers and put 8 games between them.
In the actual NL West the Padres were also dwelling in the cellar, two games behind the Rockies. Because of their recent hot streak they've built a 3.5 game lead over them.
If the Padres hold this .423 pace the rest of the season they'll be 30th place on the list of all time best Padres teams. That's reason to celebrate.
