Another day, another batch of minor league games. I'm going to keep this brief because I feel a nap creeping up on me.
Fort Wayne Tin Caps @ Cedar Rapids Kernels, 4:35pm: The 'Caps lit up the Kernels 9-1 last night after shutting them out 6-0 Wednesday. Adys Portillo scattered 4 hits over 6 innings, allowing 1 run; he was promoted to AA San Antonio after the game. Fort Wayne will send Colin Rea to the mound as they go for the sweep. Rea is 2-6 with a 3.76 ERA in 23 games including 11 starts.
San Antonio Missions v. Midland RockHounds, 5:05pm: The Missions head back home for a four game set after beating Frisco 12-10 on the road yesterday. Andrew Werner will make his 18th start; he has a 4-8 record with a 3.43 ERA in 97 innings to date.
Eugene Emeralds v. Boise Hawks, 7:05pm: The Ems go into the second game of a five gamer with one win already under their collective belt. Defiance, Ohio native Justin Hancock is scheduled to take the hill for his 7th start with Eugene this season. He's 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA after going 0-4 with a 6.95 in 13 games for Fort Wayne.
Lake Elsinore Storm v. Modesto Nuts, 7:05pm: Lake Elsinore begins a 3 game set looking to bounce back from last night's 4-2 loss to Rancho Cucamonga. Mark Pope gets the nod for the Storm; he's 6-6 with a 4.62 ERA in 19 games, 14 of them starts.
Tucson Padres @ Sacramento River Cats, 6:05pm: The TuPads are in the same situation as the Storm, heading to Sac'to after losing 4-3 to Reno last night. Jedd Gyorko went 1-3 with a walk and an RBI. Matt Palmer will try to right the ship for Tucson tonight. Palmer is 5-6 with a 6.72 ERA in 15 games in AAA. To his credit, he's faring better than he did in his small taste of the Majors when he gave up 2 runs in 2 innings.
Well, that wasn't too difficult; I guess I can get my sleep on now. See you guys in a few!
