After winning the best game of the season last night, our Padres boarded a happy flight to Colorado, where they will open up a three-game series against the Rockies tonight.
Jason Marquis will toe the rubber against his former team in game 1. He has been fairly solid in his four starts so far with San Diego. Although he's gotten a 1-3 record in those four outings, each of them has been a quality start that was just not backed by enough offense. But hopefully our boys can take advantage of playing on the moon this series and put some runs on the board for Marquis tonight.
On the mound for Colorado will be Jeff Francis, who is making his fifth start for the Rockies this season. He has given up 15 runs in just 18 1/3 innings pitched altogether this year. However, more than half of those runs came in his first outing, where he gave up eight earned runs in just 3 1/3 innings. He has been playing better as of late and hopes to continue that trend tonight.
We have a chance to get out of the cellar with a series victory at Coors Field. Let's begin with a win tonight!
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
