Padres still on pace to have worst season ever

Losers
Losers

The 1969 Padres finished with a record of 52-110, the worst in the Padres' long and storied history. That's a winning percentage of .321. The 2012 Padres winning percentage hasn't dipped that low yet, but after 70 games they're two games behind the original club.

Being the worst won't be easy though. They'll have to compete with a '69 team that went 26-92 (.283) the rest of the way. I believe this team can compete. They seem like the type of guys that could fail this miserably.

When the Padres are competing it's always fun to watch the divisional standings. With the 2012 season deemed "unsalvageable" by its GM, let's follow the team in its race to humiliate itself and our fair city. It's like we're competing against a team of ghosts. Like a nightmarish Field of Dreams or like Mario racing the ghost track leader in Mario Kart.

If the season ended today (I wish), the Padres would be the second worst team in history. Go Padres!
