With our Padres now on a three-game losing streak, on pace for worst season evar, and coming off a sweep by the AL-West-leading Rangers, we will turn to Clayton Richard to right the ship. Richard is seeking his third straight win, having gone at least seven innings in his last two starts. He has shown improvement recently after having a bit of a rough start to the season. Also, he has good career numbers against the Mariners. He has a lifetime 3-1 record and 1.97 ERA against Seattle. Most recently, he faced them at Safeco Field last Tuesday, tossing seven strong innings and allowing just one run while striking out three. Our Padres are hoping to continue their dominance over the Mariners this season after sweeping them last week.
Making the start for Seattle will be Kevin Millwood, whose last win came on May 23rd. However, with his history pitching in San Diego, a visit to Petco Park may be just what he needs to turn around his recent struggles. In his eight career starts in SD, Millwood has a 4-0 record with a 3.30 ERA. He is hoping to continue that success today against a struggling Padres team.
Today's lineup after the jump.
