A rough outing by Anthony Bass was too much to overcome in last night's 10-2 loss. Today our Padres will try to rebound and take game 2 in Oakland.
Ross Ohlendorf is set to become the 12th different pitcher to make a start in a Padres uniform this year. In a season riddled with pitching injuries, Ohlendorf will try to give our Padres a needed pitching boost. Before being picked up by San Diego, he went 4-3 with a 4.65 ERA for Boston's Triple-A affiliate. Last week he pitched 4 1/3 innings in relief of Andrew Cashner. He gave up one run on five hits and struck out four.
The Athletics, also suffering from pitching injuries, recalled Tyson Ross to make the start and try to lead his team to its fifth straight win. He made his last start on May 30th and gave up four runs on six hits in five innings of work against Milwaukee. He is 2-6 on the season with a 6.51 ERA. Hopefully our Padres can get to him and put a stop to the A's winning streak to even up the series.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
