Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday, Mr. Padre! Happy Birthday to you!
A win last night means we go for our first sweep of the season today. Our Padres will take the field at 12:35 for the series finale as Anthony Bass tries to bounce back from his last start. He gave up six runs over six innings against the Marlins. However, he has pitched well overall since moving into the rotation in April. This will be his second start against the Rockies after giving up three earned runs on four hits in five innings at Coors Field last month.
Colorado will send Christian Friedrich to the mound for his major league debut. Friedrich was called up from the minors to help out a Rockies rotation plagued with injury. He went 2-0 in his five starts for the triple-A club this season and hopes to prove himself worthy of this opportunity.
It's hard not to have a good feeling about today. These last two nights have been happy ones for Padres fans. Today, Tony the Gwynn celebrates his 52nd birthday and B Cres will be rocking the organ music at the ballpark. Also, I will be at the game and I would really love to witness a sweep. So everyone just keep the faith and bust out the broomskies because the Padres are gonna clean up the trash at Petco Park.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
