Up until now if someone told you Everth Cabrera was hitting down in Tucson, you'd think they were talking about his .328 average. Now that's not the case.
Cabrera and his wife were arrested on domestic violence charges of misdemeanor assault on March 16th. This explains why he hasn't been called up to fill in for Jason Bartlett who, as we can attest, hasn't hit anything in San Diego.
"As we consider our options to improve the club, we certainly want to know all the facts related to these charges," Padres General Manager Josh Byrnes said. "If in fact we make a decision to promote him while this is pending, we know in the back of our mind we have to stay on top of it and act accordingly once the legal process has concluded."
The UT reports that if he is convicted he might have to serve out his sentence in Arizona.
Regardless of how this affects the Padres, this is just a sad story all the way round.
