May is always such a good month.
I love the dramatic shift from one day to the next and the way that May brings in a victory.
Edinson Volquez continues to justify why he was named opening day starter with 7 innings of shutout baseball, keeping Ryan Braun and the rest of the Brewers in check.
In the 8th, the bearded Andrew Cashner came in and kept the Brewers in check and was rewarded with a pinch hit 2 run home run by the bearded Mark Kotsay, which held up to win the game.
Things I learned:
- Ryan Braun doesn't always hit home runs and/or triples
- Mark Kotsay can reach the deepest part of Petco Park with the existing fences
- If the fences were moved in a little bit, Mark Kotsay could've reached that part of the park more confidently, and it would've been more fun to watch. Truth.
- It's a strange relief to be in a Game Thread where I'm fairly confident I won't get grief for actually rooting for my team.
- Carlos Quentin's rehab is a success so far
Roll Call after the jump...
tonoxtono (106) did some work tonight with triple digit comments as he tried to lead the Game Thread to quadruple digits. His partner in crime, greekpadre (74), came in second with sdsuaztec4 (56) also keeping things real. In other news, somebody should probably help sdchicken get a girlfriend before he goes blind from K-Pop animated gifs.
