Savor that feeling, Chase. Enjoy it. That's what you want to happen like all the time.

There it is. The first series of the baseball season is in the books and the Padres came out of it badly, but at least they ended strong. The story here is Clayton Richard just owning the Dodgers very nicely through seven innings only allowing 2 hits and 2 runs (both unearned). Andrew Cashner pitched a solid inning of relief and Big Ern (Ernesto Frieri) finished it out nicely.

The second story of the day is that Chase Headly decided to get his first hit of the day at an opportune time and knocked himself a granny, a grandmother, a home run with a Padre at every Pillow, a BFOP and a PFOM. He hit a grand slam.

The bad of it: 3 errors on the day, including one by Will Venable that kept the 6th inning alive for the Dodgers, allowing Matt Kemp to hit a home run against Clayton.

In the end though, the Padres that gave up red meat for Lent ate it this morning and it gave them protein power. The Padres that gave up caffeine for Lent, had themselves some coffee and it gave them caffeine power. The Padres that gave up busting slumps were able to tie one off for brunch and get this particular slump busted.

And so... The rankings of all of the games of the 2012 season continues:

  1. April 8th, 2012 - Padres 8, Dodgers 4 - Win #1, Easter Sunday
  2. April 7th, 2012 - Padres 5, Dodgers 5 - Extra Innings #1
  3. April 5th, 2012 - Padres 3, Dodgers 5 - Opening Day
  4. April 6th, 2012 - Padres 0, Dodgers 6 - Tony Gwynn Opening Day

The great thing about baseball... As easy it is for any given team to look pathetic for 3 games (laughing at you now Red Sox), it's also very easy for any given team to find themselves in a hot streak. The Padres looked pretty good today (except for all the errors...) and it'll be nice to catch this one on the replay if you were out hunting for eggs with the family today.

GO PADRES!

Gaslamp Baller tonoxtono ran the show again today with 47 comments, and TTG backed him up nicely with 37. Everybody's goal for this week is to convince a Gaslamp Baller who is falling off the bandwagon after the first three games to make a grand return this week. If we all get one person, we can get that users number up over 50! I'm gonna call jbox and Jonny Dub right now.
