Game Thread: 04/26 Padres vs. Nationals

So our Padres dropped the first two games of the series and will try to salvage a win against the Nationals tonight.

Edwin Jackson will take the mound and try to get the sweep for Washington. The Nats have won all six of their series so far, but a win tonight would give them their first sweep of the season. Jackson's last start wasn't so great, giving up five runs on seven hits to the Astros. However, he preceded that start with a two-hitter against the Reds on April 14th. He hopes to have that kind of performance against this Padres offense that has managed to gather 12 hits, but only produced 3 runs in this series.

Edinson Volquez and the Padres lineup both have a lot to play for tonight. Volquez is still looking for an elusive first win as a Friar, and he will have to take on a Nationals lineup that has won 14 out of their 18 games so far this season and keeps finding ways to win games. The Padres lineup on the other hand continues to find ways to lose games, between their unproductive bats and their sloppy defense. This team has had a very rough start to their 2012 season, but what they have been consistent in is avoiding the sweep at home. So let's keep doing that!

Our Padres couldn't win with B Cres' organ magic at the game yesterday, but tonight they'll have Aztec for Life and Padres fan, Ryan Lindley, throwing out the first pitch, as well as the San Diego chicken being a badass. Oh, and Dex will be in the house keeping the faith and hopefully not doing a lot of sighing.
