Game Thread: 04/24 Padres vs. Nationals

After splitting the series with the Phillies and having an off day yesterday, our Padres will try to extend their two-game winning streak as they open up a three-game series tonight against the Nationals.

Washington has had a red-hot start to the season, winning five series in a row to get them to a 12-4 record, a lead in the NL East, and second place in the Majors. They've gone 4-2 on the road so far and tonight they will send lefty Gio Gonzalez to the mound to try to continue that success here in San Diego. Gonzalez is coming off a win against the Astros, his first win as a National League pitcher, and the Nats are coming off extra long rest, as their game on Sunday afternoon was rained out and they had an off day yesterday.

Our Padres will send their own lefty to the mound in Clayton Richard. He will try to bounce back from a couple of roughs starts, the latest of which included giving up eight earned runs in 5.1 innings in Colorado against the Rockies. Hopefully our Padres offense will carry their success against the Phillies over into this series and put a halt to the Nationals' hot start.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
