Roy Halladay vs Cory Luebke

Complete Coverage >

I saw some Phillies Phans at Balboa Park today. They seemed nice enough as they walked around. Obviously tourists. I thought of how nice it must be for them. In Philly, it's getting to that hot, muggy, thunderstormy weather and Balboa Park was nice out. Mid-70's. Partly Cloudy.

One of them was wearing a Halladay t-shirt and I thought, isn't that nice. If I was gonna get a t-shirt at this point, I guess I'd get a Luebke t-shirt, but I don't think t-shirt people make t-shirts with the names of Padres on them for fear of having overstock t-shirts of players that hit free agency.

Cory Luebke is a bright spot. He goes for us today and, while the Phillies themselves have probably been warned, I'm guessing most of the Phillies Phans aren't really expecting much out of him. Me? I'm expecting Luebke to set a career high in strikeouts and for him to not take an inning to settle down.

His first start, he needed two innings to settle. Second start a single inning. This start, he'll either need 9 innings or zero innings and I'm hoping for 9.

There's really no precedent for the Padres to continue to be this bad so expect them to win tonight... just because.
