Another day in Colorado. Another middling effort. Another loss. Another lost series.
Clayton Richard did not have his stuff today and Chase Headley could not quite account for enough of the offense to bring the Padres to victory, managing only two home runs and three RBI. May has well have stayed home if you ask me if that's all you're gonna contribute, yo. Chase, if you'll recall, was odd man out when it came to contract extension time, but obviously isn't letting it phase him.
Will Venable also had a good day, going 2 for 4 in the leadoff spot in place of a resting Cameron Maybin. Bud Black figured that it would be, "a good day to give him a blow".
And really, if you stop to think about it, who among us wouldn't trade a Padres loss for a good blow every now and then?
Go Padres.
Roll Callllllll...
