Yesterday, we did what no team before us this season has been able to do. We defeated the Diamondbacks. That has to make our Padres like one of the best teams, if not THE best team, in the league right?
Tonight we will go for our first series win of the season. The Diamondbacks will send the soulless Ian Kennedy to the mound to try to prevent a losing streak that will cause them to spiral downward into a black hole for the rest of the season. Kennedy has had a good career against San Diego and was undefeated against us last season. The Dbacks have won 11 of their last 16 against us. But that is in the past now. They are only .500 against us this season. And we're sending out a secret weapon against them tonight in the form of Anthony Bass.
Bass will be making the start for the good guys, pitching in Dustin Moseley's spot. He is excited to be getting the opportunity to start again. Last year, Bass started three games for the Pads and gathered two wins and a no-decision. He started this season in the bullpen, having already logged four innings in which he gave up one earned run on two hits. Now that Dustin Moseley is on the DL, he has the opportunity to prove his worth as a starter and help the club extend their winning streak to two games. That would be our longest winning streak of the season!
We're still seeing a lot of disappointing at-bats in the lineup. We have some fun moments where it looks like they know what their doing, but so far those moments have been few and far between. Hopefully they can get into some kind of groove soon. There's no time like the present to do so, so hopefully this lineup tonight can put something together that resembles a good offense and make the Dbacks wish they never made the trip to San Diego. Just kidding! No one ever regrets making a trip to San Diego. Especially when they're coming from Arizona.
#Padres lineup v. #Dbacks: Maybin 8, Venable 9, Headley 5, Guzman 7, Alonso 3, Hundley 2, Hudson 4, Bartlett 6, Bass 1.
