Cory Luebke did something very un-Luebkelike and gifted in a run in the first. Walking in a run with the bases loaded. Luebke gave up four walks in the first inning, but settled down and ended up striking out 5 and keeping the D-Backs in check for 5 1/3 innings.

In celebration of Denorfia, here's a rap song...

Things I learned in this game.

  • When drowsy and fighting a cold, Petco Park style games are very restful.
  • Huston Street was worth his contract I guess.
  • If you hit a ball directly at Cory Luebke, he will snatch it out of the air and potentially take a bite out of it like a delicious apple.
  • Orlando Hudson really makes questionable decisions running the bases, but still periodically impresses with his ability to reference his career as a Major League baseball player.
  • Huston Street's entrance music is Stranglehold by Ted Nugent

All in all though, can't complain.

Here's the ranking as I see it:

  1. April 8th, 2012 - Padres 8, Dodgers 4 - Win #1, Easter Sunday
  2. April 11th, 2012 - Padres 2, Diamondbacks 1 - Win #2, Denorfia bomb
  3. April 10th, 2012 - Padres 2, Diamondbacks 4 - Extra Innings #2
  4. April 7th, 2012 - Padres 5, Dodgers 6 - Extra Innings #1
  5. April 5th, 2012 - Padres 3, Dodgers 5 - Opening Day
  6. April 6th, 2012 - Padres 0, Dodgers 6 - Tony Gwynn Opening Day

Sure, this is more of a typical win that we might see and it was much more suspenseful, but there's a satisfaction in beating the Dodgers, you know?

Axion ran the afternoon's Open Thread like a Boss, commenting twice as much as the second and third most prolific commenters, Darklighter and Antonio Oliveras.

I still encourage you to recruit a friend to join our Open Thread Shenandoah. The more the merrier or something.
