MLB's Greatest in Baseball Yearly Awards honor the best players and moments of the season. Padres are nominated in four different categories for this year's GIBBYs. You can vote for them here.

Luke Gregerson: Setup Man of the Year

Gregerson spent most of the season pitching the 8th inning, but he also spent some time closing games for the Padres when Huston Street was out in August and September. He pitched in 77 games this season, keeping opponents to a .215 average while he collected 24 holds, 9 saves, and 2 wins.

Chase Headley: Breakout Hitter of the Year

We all know what an amazing season Headley had in 2012. He reached base safely in 146 games (best in the league) and led the NL in RBI. He also won his first Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards and kept himself in the talks for MVP.

Everth Cabrera: Play of the Year

On August 26th, the Padres played against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field and held a one-run lead in the bottom of the 8th. Justin Upton hit a hard liner, but Cabrera made a great diving stop and quickly fired to first to throw him out.

Crystal the Monkey: Cut4 Topic of the Year

On September 27th, Crystal the Monkey was a special guest at Petco Park as the Padres took on the Dodgers. She helped with the ceremonial first pitch, hung out with the fans, and provided some in-booth entertainment with Tony Gwynn and Mark Grant.
