Game Preview: Game 162 @ Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers have already locked up the series win with their 4-3 victory over our Padres last night. So tonight our boys will be looking to go out of the 2012 season by salvaging the final game and avoiding a sweep.

For the second night in a row, both of the NL RBI leaders failed to add to their RBI totals. Chase Headley got two hits and scored twice off Brewers pitching last night while Ryan Braun reached base once via walk, which turned into a run. Each player struck out once. Everth Cabrera couldn't add to his SB total either, getting picked off in his attempt last night, but in his effort he collected three hits. The 2012 National League RBI and SB titles will all come down to tonight and how each of these players manage to end their season.

For Headley, it's definitely been a season for the books. He has already set career highs in hits, walks, RBI, runs scored, and home runs. He is also just one double and one stolen base away from career highs in those categories. Tonight he will get one last chance to put a stamp on an already amazing season.

Our Padres will give Andrew Werner the ball in the 2012 finale. This will be Werner's eighth career start and he will try to end his season by making an impression after going 0-2 in his last three outings. Along with trying to snap his own two-game losing streak, he will try to help the team snap its three-game losing streak. Despite having a phenomenal second half overall, our Padres haven't been getting the wins so easily in these last few weeks. Hopefully they can get it together tonight as the Brewers send their own rookie to the mound.

Josh Stinson will make the start for Milawukee. Stinson was called up from the Brewers' minor league system on September 4th and has since made five appearances. But tonight, as he pitches in place of Yovani Gallardo, he will make his very first major league start. In his five relief appearances, he's pitched a total of 5 1/3 scoreless innings.
