A's eliminated. The Reds too, but mostly the A's.

This is why the MLB shouldn't allow sucky teams into the Post Season. They'll just embarrass themselves.

I didn't watch any of the games yesterday because I don't care, but here's what happened... or so I'm told.

The Reds blew a 2-0 game lead in a divisional series by losing three straight games to the Giants. The two teams were in the midst of a pitcher's duel yesterday in the deciding game until Mat Latos grooved a pitch that Buster Posey hit for a grand slam. With that the Reds' season was over. To his credit Latos took all the blame, but really what choice did he have? Sucks for him.

"I let down the whole team, the front office, the fans, everybody," Latos said. "This game is 100 percent on me. I’m not making excuses, I screwed it up."

The best team in baseball during the regular season was the Nationals. Yesterday they needed a win over a really mediocre but surging Cardinals team to keep their season alive. They got the win in the form of a walk off home run from Jayson Werth. Dustin Downs is probably penning a letter to all of Werth's haters right now.

More interesting to me was this factoid about Bryce Harper.

This is the kind of thing that doesn't show up in the box score but makes all the difference in the world.

The Orioles beat the Yankees in extra innings. I'm glad the Orioles won, don't get me wrong, but I was telling Jon last night that I wouldn't really mind if the Yankees won the World Series. What are their fans going to get more cocky? It's not even possible. No one will care.

I saved the best for last. Those loveable losers in Oakland did what they do best, they lost. My least favorite team in the American League was humiliated by Justin Verlander and the Tigers. A team like the A's does not recover from such a crushing defeat quickly. It'll be decades before they even sniff the post season again. It was so much fun hearing how they got their hopes up and then the next day hearing how their hearts were ripped out of their body cavities through their butt holes. The Athletics players and fans are a disgrace to our national past time. Simply put it was a pathetic performance. Wear your A's gear in shame Oakland fan.
