Padres need-a Hermida to break 9 game losing streak, Latos too

A lot of really nice performances by the Padres today.  Mat Latos pitched 7 strong innings and earned the win. Buddy Black says he encouraged Mat Latos to throw his breaking balls in the strike zone rather than relying on hitters to swing at balls out of the zone.  He was also told to let loose the wrath of his fast ball.  Apparently it paid off.  He recorded his first September win.

Offensively, Jesus Guzman lobbed bloop singles all over the yard going 3-3.  Jeremy Hermida drove in the first 3 runs on two clutch hits. Even Will Venable piled on with a 3 run triple in the end.  The rest of the Padres were pretty much dead weight.

Probably my favorite play of the game though was when Hermida flashed his leather and made a leaping grab in front of the right field porch.  The best part was that he robbed Kouzmanoff of a hit.

I still have a lot of animosity towards Kevin Kouzmanoff.  It used to really annoy me how many fans he had here in San Diego when I never felt his play warranted that kind of adulation.  In an attempt to tarnish his reputation I was trying to think up anti-Kouzmanoff propaganda slogans.  I tweeted this one: "If you Kouz, you lose".  The premise behind this one is that if you have Kouzmanoff on your team you deserve to lose the game.  Good one, jbox.

Speaking of tweets.  I guess I'll go ahead and pimp another one that I sent out earlier.  Channel 4 was doing a baby montage before the start of the 8th inning.  Instead of focusing in on the baby my eyes were drawn towards this guy's Coca-Cola parody shirt that says "Enjoy Vagina".  Will do.

Go Padres!
