I like this new Padres tradition of shoving shaving cream in player's faces and dousing them with water and beer after winning a game that means nothing in the standings.  Sometimes watching them play grab ass during the post game show is just as much fun as the game itself.  It makes no sense and yet here I am all a flutter.

I missed the first 7 innings of the game due to prior commitments but from everything I hear Mat Latos threw a phenomenal game.  He pitched 7 scoreless innings and didn't give up a hit until the 5th inning.  Even when he did eventually give up two hits, he didn't give two shits because he has composure.

Will Venable has done what he has done all season.  He grounded out weakly to second a dozen times and then homered to the deepest part of the ballpark, just to tease us with his inhuman ability.

Win number 70 was a good one. We'll always remember it.  We'll call it "Heavenly Seventy" and everybody will know exactly what we're talking about.  In the deepest, darkest and coldest nights of San Diego's winter we'll get a far away look in our eye and drift back to this game in our collective memories and it will warm our nether regions like a furnace.  We'll wake up hours later with our clothes drenched and white cream all over our faces and we'll laugh and laugh.  Was it real or just a dream? It was apparently real on account of the jizz on our faces.

Go Padres!
