After sweeping the Pirates in Pittburgh, our Padres continue east to take on the Mets in a four-game series. Today's game will pit right-handers Mike Pelfrey and Tim Stauffer against each other in a battle of starting pitching.
Pelfrey did a good job of shutting down our offense last season. In two starts last season, he held us to a total of two runs in seven innings. However, we have some momentum coming into this game. We are riding a four-game win streak that includes a three-game sweep of the Pirates. Hopefully we didn't leave all our offense in Pittburgh.
Tim Stauffer pitched 6.1 shutout innings his last time out and has been a beast on the mound this year. This will be his first career start in New York and hopefully we can continue our offensive explosion from the last series and give him some runs to work with.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
