If you are reading this, bless you. You are still trucking along on the Padres bandwagon. Get comfortable. Put your feet up. There's plenty of room. Hey, look out the window... a scoring opportunity! Hurry, get out your camera so you can capture it before it's gone! Oh, too late... there it goes, being left in our wake. That's alright, another one will come along at some point. You'll get one eventually. So will our Padres. And when they do, we will be there to cheer them on.
Seriously though, kudos to you guys for still coming here. For still paying attention to a team that many "fans" gave up on a long time ago. For sitting through low- or no-scoring games night after night and still coming back for more. We are truly the Friar Faithful.
Tonight, again, we find ourselves trying to avoid a sweep. After dropping the series in a 1-0 decision last night, we look to come back and salvage a win against the Dodgers and get that first August victory behind Tim Stauffer. Stauffer is coming off back-to-back losses, his most recent being a 3-2 loss in which his balk was the difference in the game. Despite his recent losing streak, Stauffer has been a solid starter for us all season, and we hope he gets back to his dominant ways tonight.
As has been the story for most of the season, we will need our offense to wake up and score some much deserved runs for our pitching staff. They will face Ted Lilly, who will be trying to win his second consecutive start, a feat he hasn't accomplished all season. He has had a lot of success against San Diego in his career, putting up a 2.93 lifetime ERA against us with a record of 8-3. He is 2-0 against us so far this season so we will need to find a way to get to him and give Stauffer and our bullpen some run support.
Must Win Game! Be Stawesome, Tim! BEAT LA!!
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
