The Padres started the series off right with a 3-1 win over the Marlins last night. Hopefully they can continue to find success tonight behind Wade LeBlanc. In his last start against the Reds, LeBlanc captured his first win of the season. He pitched a solid six innings and allowed only two runs while striking out six.
Offensively, our rookies have been looking awesome lately. They are hitting the ball well and getting runs on the board. No one has been more explosive than Jesus Guzman. It took people a while, but they are finally starting to jump on the Guzman bandwagon. He has hit five home runs and collected 34 RBI since being called up and he seems to be constantly improving and making adjustments. Last night he hit a 2-RBI triple in the first to lead the Padres to victory.
Right-hander Chris Volstad will try to shut down Guzman and the rest of the Padres lineup. He comes into this game without a win since July 10. In his last start, he gave up four runs on seven hits against the Giants. He is itching to get another win, so we need to keep hitting and prevent that from happening.
It's Tony Hawk Night at the ballpark tonight. Hopefully he can bring some good luck to our team.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
