The Padres have traveled into the 7th inning with a lead two days in a row and two days in a row the Mike Adams Curse has reared its ugly, bearded, head.
Actually, there's no curse. What's actually happening is the Padres bullpen is feeling a little bit of the "bitchiness" from within over losing Mike Adams, who they all middle school crushed on. This is what's resonating in the bullpen as opposed to like, the Force, or whatever it is the Yoda backpack is supposed to give them.
Bitchy we are! About Mike Adams we lost! Lose, we will! Any games play us!
Some people call these games meaningless, which in the grand scheme of things could really be said about any baseball game, right? I mean, even if we win in a "meaningful" season, what have we really won? What if we made it to the World Series? Would that make our existence any better, or would we then taste the bitter pill of Nowhere to Go But Down? Look at what happened to Boston Fan. And I don't mean their attitude. I'm talking about all that crab cake. At least skip the mashed potatoes. Disgusting.
Therefore, any meaning that gets placed in these games is just imaginary anyway. It's all a state of mind, just like The Force or The Bitchiness is a state of mind. How hard is it to refocus that mind and turn these games meaningful? Answer: Not hard at all.
