I won't talk about last night. It was ugly, and even I had a hard time coming up with something hopeful to say after the game. But it's done now, and it's time to move on. We can't have the players dwelling on last night and negatively affecting their play today, so I don't think we, as fans, should either.
In game 2 of the series today, we will try to get back on the winning side as our offense faces Rubby De La Rosa. Although he has lost his last four starts, he pitched seven strong innings in each of his last two. The Dodgers have only give him a total of 5 runs of support in his last four starts, and Aaron Harang will try to keep it that way as he takes the mound for San Diego.
Harang is returning from a DL stint dating back to June 10 after he suffered a right foot contusion. Before that, he went 7-2 on the season with a 3.71 ERA. He has been pretty consistent for our Padres this season, and he will try to continue that consistency today, hopefully with an offense that shows up for him.
The hot streak that our team was on going into the Giants series seems to be cooling down, but we have to rekindle the flame and start it back up again. A loss today would put us back in a tie for fourth place with a potential to go into the All Star Break as the NL West bottom dwellers. I know many people have given up on the season, especially after last night, but there is still baseball being played and a team that we need to support.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
