Today we go for the split against the Nationals. In their last 12 games, the Nats have gone 7-5 and their pitching has posted a 2.54 ERA. Jordan Zimmerman will try to lead them to a series win today against our Padres. He is 0-1 in his career against San Diego and this is his first time pitching at Petco Park.
We will look to Tim Stauffer to continue his performance in his last start. Pitching a career-high eight shutout innings and striking out a career-high eight batters on Tuesday against the Rockies, Stauffer is coming off his best start. We have won 10 of our last 17 games and have gone 5-5 in the current homestand. A win today will give us our first winning homestand of the season.
GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!
P.S. Aaron Harang was placed on the 15-day DL this morning. Anthony Bass was called up and will make his major league debut tomorrow to give the Padres an extra day to decide if Dustin Moseley will be able to make his start.
