Game Thread: 5/28 Padres @ Nationals

Gooood morning, Gaslamp Ballers! You know, I really like these morning games. I get to wake up, make a great breakfast, and eat it in bed while I watch my favorite team play my favorite sport. What's not to like?

Yesterday in the series opener, the Padres took a 2-1 loss in Washington when Michael Morse hit a walkoff home run in the ninth. It snapped the Nationals' five-game losing streak. We busted their slump.

Well, no more of that. Our Friars are on a mission today. Objective: WIN. Tim Stauffer is the only starter in our rotation without a win yet this season. He has a record of 0-2 with an ERA of 3.56 in seven starts, six of which were quality starts. As usual, it will be up to our offense to put up just enough runs on the board to get the win, something they obviously are struggling with this season.

Jordan Zimmerman will take the mound for the Nats. He is 2-5 with a 3.98 ERA going into today's game, his first time pitching against the Padres. In seven of his nine starts this season, he has allowed only three runs or less. This seems perfect, since the Padres have scored three runs or less in their last ten games. We just need to rely on Tim Stawesome and our defense to make the run(s) count and shut down the Nationals.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FATITH!!!!
