The Padres offense were neutered by the Nationals' starting pitcher John Lannan tonight. It was an unsanitary procedure, Lannan was filthy. He gave up two hits through 7.2 innings.
A rain delay was the best part of the game until, Jason Bartlett hit the first pitch of the 9th inning into the seats tying the game. It was at that point that I started rationalizing that these are the types of games that the Padres need to win, the games that they don't deserve to win.
Then an ogre by the name of Michael Morse returned the favor by hitting Mike Adams' first pitch into the seats winning the game. I'm not sure if he's really a pure bred ogre, but I can guarantee that an ogre humped his family tree at some point.
In conclusion, if you like the Nationals, rain delays or ogres, then you probably had a good time this evening.
