Game Thread: 5/20, Padres vs. Hated Mariners

New, 583 comments

Tonight we start a three-game series and open up interleague play against our rivals to the north. Not the Giants, but the Hated Seattle Mariners. Just typing their name has me SEETHING WITH RAGE.

Mat Latos will toe the rubber today against the Mariners. A fantastic performance in his last outing got him his first win of the season, and hopefully tonight will get him his second. Like his last start, I have a good feeling about tonight, and once again we're coming off a good win.

A quick look at the enemy: Seattle southpaw Erik Bedard is 1-4 with a 4.78 ERA. His last start against the Indians was postponed due to rain, so he has only pitched 2/3 of an inning over the last 12 days. Ichiro Suzuki, who is leading off for the Mariners tonight, will try to build on his .342 average at Petco Park.

GO FRIARS!! KEEP THE FAITH!!

Oh, and no word of the day today. Last time, the word of the day was abused and it lost all meaning. I'm not mad, just disappointed. But you should feel ashamed.
