A look back at some Tony Gwynn relics

I've been trying to organize and back up my digital photos this week. In doing so, I've come across a ton of Padres pictures that I've taken through the years. Most of the pictures are terrible. Like one time Jon and I were at a game and he says "Take a picture of that guy wearing a pink shirt". So I did and here I am 3 years later with that picture on my hard drive.

Anyway, I did find a few interesting photos too. Like these, from a Tony Gwynn exhibit at SDSU in 2007, the year he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The artifacts were under glass so they aren't the best pictures, but they'll do. The balls seen below are from his first major league hit, his 2000th hit and his last hit. The gloves and hat are from his 3000th hit. I don't remember why I didn't get a picture of his 1000th hit ball. I'm pretty sure his 3000th hit ball wasn't on display because it was in Cooperstown. I can't help but think that all of these items belong in a museum.

The last picture is a letter from Pete Rose, "The Hit King". Judging by the amount of enjoyment you guys get from finding and publicly embarrassing me every time I make a typo or misspelling, his letter should make your day.
