I missed Opening Day because I was working up in Portland. I managed to catch one or two at bats and piece together what happened via the comments and from osmosis. Here's what I've learned:
- Jake Peavy still doesn't know how to pitch in a big game.
- Cliff Floyd is doing just about what everyone figured he'd do.
- Overall, our offense appears to be more of the same.
- Dodger Fan has decided to sympathize with us instead of ridicule us, which firmly kills what's left of any "rivalry".
Incidentally, just from the meager comments that I read through, here are my favorites. No asterisks for the first game of the season. We've still got our preseason legs on. Just wait till tomorrow when I'm able to comment also. I bring out the best in you all.
Best comment about Girl Scout Cookies:
Finally here!
Apparently, my Firefox was not set to accept third party cookies. I’m not sure how that happened, because my personal philosophy has always been to accept cookies from anyone, particularly Girl Scouts.by Boilermaker19
The "WalMart has all the same stuff award" comment of the night:
And that's it. Uninspired play inspires uninspired comments. Still, it's Opening Day and it's baseball so I'm proclaiming this game, the best game of the year so far. If I have to rank them, I'll say 4/6/2009 is #1. Interestingly enough, it was also the worst game of the year so far. That's because of the math involved. by TheAxeManCometh
Meet the 2009 padres
Damn similar to the 2008 padres, just cheaper
Also, I told you guys years ago that Matty V was a talent. Next guy to get called to big things... Darren Smith. You heard it here first.
