Open Thread: 6/17, Padres vs. Yankees

The San Diego Padres challenge the New York Yankees in Yankees Stadium for the last time. I remember the last exhibition Spring Training game of the year in '98 when the Yankees played the Padres in Qualcomm Stadium. I sat in right field with a friend who was a Yankees fan. The score was tied 4-4 and was called due to rain and hail. We talked about how these two teams would meet again in the World Series.

I didn't go to any of the World Series games back then because I couldn't get tickets, but I watched as Tony Gwynn and Greg Vaughn tore into David Wells and started celebrating early by starting cars on fire. It wasn't meant to be, we got swept. Tonight we get one last chance to take a series, hell a even a game from them on their turf. If not we steal something or burn it to the ground. One way or another we are going to get even!

Chase Headley is in Left Field. I guess all that talk of him being DH was nonsense, just like everything else we've been told about him. We've been bamboozled!

Go Padres!! Beat the Yankees!
