GameThread, 5/2: Fish vs Friar

I think the best part of the Padres being terrible again is the fact that you can kinda settle into a game and appreciate the little things, because there aren't any big things to appreciate. Like, Hey at least it's baseball! Khalil almost hit that one into fair play. That was good. Bard doesn't look as exhausted as he did yesterday. That's cool. Bud Black's looking in the direction of the field! There's a step in the right direction.

At this rate, the Petco Park bandwagoners ("Season ticket holder since '04 baby!") and Padres fair weather fans ("My favorite team is actually the Cubs, but I attend the Padres games because I don't live in Chicago") will all disown the team ("How are your Padres doing?") and it'll just be us. Me and jbox and sometimes Kev and whoever's left of you guys and some random people who are fans of random teams.

We get to face the Marlins and that's always nice because we can play some Ichthyomancy with the guys over at FishStripes. We have a long history with the FishStripers. We've often tried to start a fued, but it becomes hard for our respective teams to really dislike each other. I'm not sure why. I've never thought of a really reason to dislike the Marlins. We've never had to face them in any sort of really important game. The Marlins Mermaids are an interesting take on cheerleaders in baseball. The Manatees are an interesting take on fat guys.

OK. So, let's watch some baseball. Drop by FishStripes and make a prediction. Predict the attendance, an MVP, some random thing that will happen. It's also Bring Your Dog to the Park night apparently, so pick the number of dogs. My predictions are as follows:

Attendance: 12,500 even
MVP: Hendrickson on the basis of double digit Ks
Somebody on the Padres literally poops their pants.
128 dogs, unless you don’t actually count the Padres and their coaching staff… then 98 or so.

GO PADRES!!!
