Two Spots left in the Bullpen

The NC Times breaks down the Padres Bullpen.   Seven pitchers competing for two spots on the roster.  That is if the club carries 12 pitchers which it likely will.

Those that made the cut:
Trevor Hoffman
Scott Linebrink
Cla Meredith
Doug "Broken Heart" Brocail
Heath Bell

Those in contention are:
Scott Cassidy

"He had one really rough outing, and it kind of blew up his spring," Black said. "But he has been fine. He hits his spots, but he really needs to work on a second pitch."

Mike Thompson
Thompson is being looked at as a long reliever and sixth starter by the Padres

Andrew Brown
"You can't deny his stuff," Black said. "And he has a wipe-out slider. The guy really lights up the radar gun."

Scott Strickland
"I like his experience," Black said.

Justin Hampson
" He was impressive early with his stuff and command," Black said. "Then he had an elbow issue and hasn't pitched in a while. We still want to get a look at him. We want to get him healthy and get him in a game. But he's running out of time."

Justin Germano
"Justin is certainly in the mix in that role," Black said.

Kevin Cameron
"He has great stuff," Black said. "And he has great natural control. He deserves an opportunity to pitch at this level."

I'm thinking Mike Thompson is going to make the club, he's going to be needed for long relief or spot starting when an injury arises in our staff.  If Wells's gout ridden toe starts aching or his diabetes kicks him to the curb it'd be nice knowing that you've got another guy who can throw some innings.

Based on Black's comments I'm guessing that Kevin Cameron is getting the last spot on the roster.
