Vasgersian is back for another year

Matt Vasgersian has signed a new contract that will keep him as the TV voice of the Padres on Channel 4 San Diego through the 2007 season.
The Padres' TV voice for the past five seasons said he wanted to be cautious because he will continue to miss a number - probably about 20 - of Channel 4's approximately 140 telecasts in order to work other events. In addition to calling NFL games for Fox Sports, as he has this season, Vasgersian expects to be heavily involved in the network's baseball coverage. (It also was announced yesterday he would call the Orange Bowl on Jan. 2.)

Vasgersian will be bringing back such memorable moments as:

  • Looking for celebrity/fan look-a-likes
  • SANTA MARIA! Home run calls
  • Not laughing at Mark Grant's jokes
  • Talking to drunk guys named Suttcliffe
