He also admitted supplying half the players on that team with the drug. According to Rose, teammates would take GBL to "wind down" after the games.
Me, I like to wind down with an ice cold Dr Pepper. Maybe some cocoa. A nice book. Steroid alternatives never occurred to me as a way to wind down. How do these dudes wind up? Update [2005-11-7 14:6:3 by Dex]: After a little investigation, turns out the stuff they were taking is a component of GHB or the date rape drug. So the whole steroid thing was way out of proportion.
However, among the effects of this crap are intoxication, increased energy, happiness, talking, desire to socialize, feeling affectionate and playful, mild disinhibition, sensuality, enhanced sexual experience, muscle relaxation, loss of coordination due to loss of muscle tone, possible nausea, difficulty concentrating, loss of gag reflex.
The question now becomes, why would these AA guys want to wind down that way? I mean, no offense, but winding down with GHB and considering those effects and the fact that it's right after the game. It all seems a little gay.
Also, jbox and I met some military dudes at a party once. They lived next door to the girl who invited us originally and during the party they took us over to their place where they had mixed up some GHB. We were like, "yeah that's a date rape drug, dude." And the military dudes were like, "no way, man. It's like a real good buzz."
Unfortunately for their buzz, they literally could only ingest a bottle cap at a time or else they'd pass out completely. Much more than that and I imagine death was possible, though not before a lot of snuggling.
Update [2005-11-7 14:12:59 by Dex]: Also, just so you knows that we were good citizens, we did warn our friend and her roommate that there was GHB in the next apartment over. We didn't turn the dudes in or anything. For all we knew, maybe they were just ingesting that stuff for kicks. I wouldn't recommend that to anybody though.
